Meet the Founder
Iya, 15, is the founder of The Desi Junction Magazine, an independent publication created to amplify the voices of Indian teenagers.
A dedicated Muay Thai athlete, writer, and young entrepreneur, Iya founded The Desi Junction with a vision of creating a space where teenagers could share their stories, ideas, and creativity without being overlooked. Combining her passion for youth empowerment with her love for storytelling, she has built a platform that showcases articles, poetry, artwork, and perspectives from young people across India.
Outside of publishing, Iya trains in Muay Thai, a discipline that has taught her resilience, focus, and determination—qualities that continue to shape her leadership as a founder. Through The Desi Junction Magazine, she hopes to inspire more teenagers to speak up, create boldly, and realize that age should never be a barrier to making an impact.
Her mission is simple: to ensure that young Indian voices are heard, celebrated, and taken seriously.
